YEPERENYE FEDERATION FESTIVAL
By Kelly

Left: This is a story of the yeperenye festival
On the 8th and 9th of September I went to the Yeperenye federation festival at 3:00pm. My family and I saw lots of dances, like Torres Strait Islander people and Aboriginal people as well. After it was time for the spectacle to begin. Larapinta students were helping carry the lanterns out to the stage waiting for the caterpillars to wander up to the stage as well. Then the stinky beetles ran through the long grass on to the stage towards the caterpillars. They bit the caterpillars heads off and then ran away through the long grass again. They were walking around in circles creating rivers, trees, rocks, and big hills.
