professional experience
2008
IT Communications Officer, Alice Springs Town Council. This is a full-time position involving maintenance and development of web systems for council's public websites, intranet and library. The position also involves training staff in the use of the council's Content Management System.
2003-2007
Self-employed web development and Linux networking consultant, Alice Springs, NT. Clients included:
- 10 Northern Territory primary and secondary schools - intranet (bulletin/calendar) system used by 10 schools (approximately 300 users) for 5 years. Includes custom on-line reporting systems for 2 schools (www.ninti.net.au).
- Pitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara Media - large database driven portal (www.waru.org).
- Central Australian Aboriginal Congress - Slackware Linux/Postfix mail server running approximately 150 user accounts. Custom PHP/MySQL intranet/document management system with dedicated Slackware Linux web server.
- Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education - after ceasing employment at Batchelor Institute in 2003, I have continued to provide them with a variety of web development, Linux support and training services.
- A range of small business clients, mainly in the NT tourism industry, located across Australia.
2002-2003
Information Systems Coordinator, Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education, Alice Springs (NT). In this role, I was responsible for the development and maintenance of web-based systems within the institute, including integrated website, intranet and database administration applications. I also shared responsibility for the installation and configuration of the network infrastructure hosting these systems (RedHat Linux web and database servers located in Alice Springs, Darwin and Batchelor). Other responsibilities included staff PD and training.
